TERMINAL OPERATOR’S LIABILITY

Terminal Operator’s Liability Insurance provides coverage to port/terminal operators for third party liabilities, including but not limited to cargo, contractual liabilities and liabilities to authorities arising out of the Assured’s performance as a terminal operator. This cover can also be extended to include damage to own property and equipment and business interruption.

PROTECTION & INDEMNITY RISKS (P&I)*

Protection & Indemnity Insurance is designed to respond to legal liabilities, plus other related costs and expenses that the assured may be held legally liable to bear, should the insured vessel be involved in an accident or any untoward incident. The P&I cover generally includes contractual liabilities arising from the carriage of passengers and goods or employment of crew. The cover may also include others forms of third party liabilities the shipowner may be exposed to, such as liabilities arising from damage to wharves & piers, oil pollution liabilities and wreck removal, among others.

FREIGHT, DEMURRAGE & DEFENSE (FD&D)*

FD&D members are able to recover expenses incurred in establishing or resisting claims involving an entered ship.  These may refer to disputes arising from any of the following:

  • Freight, demurrage or damage for detention
  • Breach of Chartered Party
  • Bill of Lading or other contracts

 TIME CHARTERER’S LIABILITY INSURANCE (TCL)*

This insurance is designed to respond to legal liabilities, plus other related costs and expenses, that a time charterer of the insured ship may be held legally liable to bear.

*Pioneer Insurance does not directly provide the cover but arranges for the entry of the shipowners with the Protection & Indemnity Associations.
